Tivoli Gardens


The world's oldest amusement park is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is called the "Tivoli Gardens."

The Tivoli Gardens opened in 1843, which makes it older than the city of Richmond!

About one hundred years after it opened, an American named Mr. Walt Disney visited the park with his wife, Lilly. He loved the flowers, buildings and rides at Tivoli, and he decided to make a park like it back where he lived in California. When he finished his park, he called it "Disneyland" (perhaps you've heard of it!)
