Rhinoceros

I've learned a lot about rhinos while on safari in Africa. Do you know what the plural of rhinoceros is? Rhinoceros. (Kind of like one fish, two fish.) When you are talking about a group of rhinos, they are called a "crash of rhinoceros." And, they like to block traffic!

Two times while driving around in the safari jeep, a crash of rhinos were dozing on the path in front of us. Females and young rhinos all lie together (to protect the little ones from hungry lions), and the larger bull (male) rhino rests a short distance away. While they lie around their little ears are constantly moving, listening for anything unusual (like safari jeeps.) Little birds search inside their ears and nostrils (yuk!) for ticks to eat.
